Jet Setter Pharmacist highlights great job openings in even better locations, and what makes these locations and employers so unique!

LOCATION: Waycross, Georgia

EMPLOYER: Satilla Regional Medical Center

POSITION: Pharmacists

WHY YOU’LL LOVE ITOnly 65 miles from the beautiful Georgia coastline and at the tip of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Waycross offers up a playground of activities for the outdoor enthusiasts. And if your interests lie elsewhere, Waycross offers fine dining, shopping, festivals and cultural arts to quench your thirst.

Waycross, Georgia began as a crossroads for Southeastern travel. It was the first hub for stagecoach traffic, and then became a center for the railroad when it laid it’s tracks in the mid 1800′s.

Waycross is located in the heart of Southeast Georgia, at the Northern tip of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a city filled with Southern hospitality and charm. You can experience traditional down-home cooking at local restaurants and slip away into comfort.

Train enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the train traffic coming in and out of the second largest computerized yard in the U.S. by relaxing on the visitor center patio in downtown. For those who love history, there are the Okefenokee Heritage Center and Southern Forest World Museums, and a historic walking tour of the downtown area.

Attractions such as the Okefenokee Swamp Park and Obediah’s Okefenok, give an in-depth look at a one-of-a-kind ecosystem, including the wildlife, plant life, and pioneer life in the area.

In the Okefenokee Swamp area fishing & boating is an adventure that outdoor lovers keep coming back for year-round. The 626-acre Laura S. Walker State Park, near the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, features a lovely 120-acre lake where you can hook blue gill, large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish, warmouth and more. If you you prefer to keep your feet dry then the park has excellent accommodations for hikers, bikers, and campers as well.

From the historic downtown district to the swamplands of the Okefenokee, there is something for everyone.
