DESCRIPTION
The Methodist Hospital Health System Director of Pharmacy will oversee the pharmacy operations of this 2 campus system: Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating resources to provide a high level of service to patients and the customer.
  • Managing Comprehensive Pharmacy Services’ relationship with the Hospital administration to ensure good customer service standards are met.
  • Directing and monitoring the quality of staff performance and the effectiveness of pharmacy programs.
  • Managing sites finances and departmental budget preparation to maximize expense and revenue performance of all health system pharmacies.
  • Establishing staffing mix, policies, procedures, standards, and objectives to ensure patients’ pharmaceutical needs are effectively met.

FACILITY
Out of more than 5,000 hospitals evaluated by U.S. News and World Report’s 2008 publication of America’s Best Hospitals, only 170 met the high standards in one or more specialties. Methodist Hospitals was the only hospital recognized in Northwest Indiana and ranks as among the best in the nation for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Methodist Hospitals is comprised of two campuses, Methodist Hospital-Southlake in Merrillville (150 bed avg. census) and Methodist Hospital-Northlake in Gary (110 bed avg. census). The pharmacies in both hospitals are centralized with extensive automation including RobotRX on the Southlake campus.

QUALIFICATIONS
» BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
» Licensure in good standing in Indiana. or eligible for licensure in Indiana.
» Minimum 3 years experience as a pharmacy director in a large (300+ beds) complex health care system.
» Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems.
» Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services.
» Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology.
» Demonstrated experience and skill in leadership, administrative, and human resources management.
» Excellent communication skills.
